How do I know my system complements the pre-requisites needed for this site?
|
|
When you tried to access the site for the first
time, a jdiagnostic application checked your system browser
settings with the required browser settings, if both were
found to match, they were turned to green. If it was green
and you had changed any of your browser settings after that
OR if any of the column was red under the current settings,
then that particular setting doesn't satisfy the pre-requisites
.Please click here to undergo the jdiagnostic run.

Can I quickly search for a topic?
|
|
Yes you can
In addition to the Course Map and the Topic Index, there is another tab that allows you to quickly locate specific topics within a course. The 'Fast Track to A Topic' tab displays an alphabetical list of course topics and a text box where you can type in a search string.
1. Display the Fast Track to A Topic tab.
2. Type in the search string.
3. Click the Search button.
For example, you want to search a Microsoft Word course for topics relating to printing a document. If you type the word “printing” in the text box and click on the Search button all of the topics in the course that have the word “printing” in the topic title will be located.
To begin a new search, click the Clear Search button and type a new search string in the text box.
The topic search is not case-sensitive, so using the search strings “printing” and “Printing” will produce the same results.
You cannot use wildcards (such as the asterisk and question mark) or Boolean logic (AND, OR, NOT) within your search string.
NOTE: If you start a topic from the Fast Track To A Topic tab, clicking the Page Forward button on the last page takes you to the next topic in the unit, not the next topic in the search list.

Scores do not get saved: What's the reason?
|
|
There are several reasons as to why scores/usage may not save. A common reason is that the course was not exited properly. To properly exit a course, please use the exit button from within the course and then allow the browser to take you back to the “Take Training” page. Please do not close the browser window or player window by clicking the “X” button on the Title bar—if you do, the scores may not have a chance to upload back to the site. Another reason for score loss is that the machine does not have an updated version of Java. This will be covered later in the steps below. If you have experienced score loss it is very important that you do not delete the cookie, often times information can be retrieved from it.

Are there any third-party software program conflicts?
|
|
There are three categories of programs that often affect the use of our courses: Firewalls/Security programs, Pop-up Blockers, and Adware/Spyware.
Firewalls/Security programs are often present on machines with DSL/Cable modem connections. When they are present and set with default configurations, our courses often have problems launching. This is because they may be set to not allow Java applets to run, .exe files, or browser pop-up windows. These programs can often be configured to allow traffic to/from our site to pass through unblocked. If you are having problems doing this, please contact the help desk and describe the exact problem. You may be asked to turn the firewall/security program off for testing purposes. Please remember to turn these programs back on when done.
Pop-up blockers will prevent the course window from opening. Most of these programs can be disabled to allow the course window to open. Some, if bundled with firewall/security programs, can be configured to allow pop-ups from certain sites.
